Jane Schneck, mother of late pop star Aaron Carter, has filed legal objections concerning the final accounting for her son’s estate, accusing his ex-fiancée, Melanie Martin, of making unauthorized withdrawals from Aaron’s bank accounts shortly after his passing. Aaron Carter died on November 5, 2022, and legal disputes regarding his estate have continued to unfold in the following months.
According to court documents, Jane Schneck challenged the valuation in the accounting report submitted by the court-appointed estate administrator, stating that Aaron’s name, image, and likeness were undervalued. Schneck alleges that in early 2023, Melanie Martin activated a website under her own name to sell merchandise featuring Aaron Carter’s name and likeness without proper authorization.
The claims include that between November 7 and November 29, 2022, just days after Aaron’s death, Martin made what Schneck terms “illegal withdrawals” amounting to $24,530.57 from Carter’s accounts. Schneck said she brought this issue to the attention of the estate administrator and even offered to purchase the rights for her late son’s name and likeness for $30,000. However, she asserts that her offer was quickly rejected during a phone conversation and accuses the administrator of showing favoritism toward Martin.
Despite the allegations, Jane Schneck acknowledges Martin’s role as a caretaker for her grandson, Prince, Aaron Carter’s son, stating that she “is a good mother” who addresses her grandson’s daily physical and emotional needs. Schneck also takes responsibility for part of the strained relationship between herself and Martin and denies engaging with any alleged online disputes from Martin for over a year.
Jane Schneck emphasizes that her primary concern is protecting her grandson’s financial future. Consequently, she is seeking to remove Melanie Martin as trustee of Prince’s trust and advocates that Martin should not control rights related to Aaron’s name and likeness.
In response, Melanie Martin denied the allegations, stating that Jane Schneck is not fully informed about Aaron Carter’s finances. Martin claimed that Aaron had given her ownership of the LOVE business, referencing statements he made on a past Instagram Live. She also noted that they shared joint financial accounts.
This ongoing legal dispute highlights complications involving Aaron Carter’s estate management following his death, with key focus on the rights and control over his name, likeness, and financial assets.
