China has issued a warning about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, saying the situation could lead to a dangerous “vicious cycle” if fighting continues to escalate.
Chinese officials urged the United States and Israel to stop military operations and return to negotiations, warning that continued attacks could push the entire region into further chaos.
A spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry said that the use of force would only make the situation worse and that the conflict should be resolved through diplomacy instead of military action.
China also warned that if the conflict continues, it could have serious global economic consequences, especially because of the situation around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.
If shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is disrupted, oil supplies could be affected around the world, which could lead to rising fuel prices and economic problems in many countries.
China said it is continuing to speak with all sides involved in the conflict and is encouraging a peaceful resolution to prevent the situation from getting worse.
The warning comes as fighting, airstrikes, and missile attacks continue across the region, raising fears that the conflict could expand further.
