A couple’s normal coffee run turned into a financial nightmare when they were billed nearly $4,500 for two Starbucks coffees.
The incident happened at a Tulsa, Oklahoma Starbucks where the couple ordered their usual drinks, normally costing around $10 total.
Days later, they discovered a huge $4,456.27 charge on their account — far above what they expected.

It turned out the system accidentally added an extra $4,444.44 tip to the bill, despite the couple selecting a “no tip” option.
The unexpected charge caused major financial stress and forced the couple to cancel a planned family vacation because their cards were declined.
They contacted Starbucks multiple times, and the company initially issued checks to refund the amount — but the first checks bounced.
Eventually, after persistent efforts and repeated contacts, the couple received the full refund.
The pair are now warning others to always check receipts and bank statements after paying, especially when using card machines, to avoid similar errors.
