Dave Grohl has revealed that he has been attending therapy six days a week for more than a year following a difficult period in his personal life. The musician said he has completed more than 430 therapy sessions so far.
Grohl opened up about the situation in a recent interview, explaining that he decided to step back from public opinion and focus on himself, his family, and his personal growth.
The therapy reportedly began after he publicly admitted in 2024 that he had fathered a child outside of his marriage. The situation caused major strain in his personal life and led him to re evaluate many parts of his life.
Grohl also said therapy helped him deal with grief after the death of his Foo Fighters bandmate Taylor Hawkins and his mother, both of whom died in 2022. He said those losses had a deep emotional impact on him.
He explained that he realized he had been pushing himself too hard for many years and described himself as being addicted to achievement and constantly working without slowing down.
The musician said therapy helped him become more self aware and focus more on his family and personal life rather than just career success.
Grohl also hinted that many of the songs on the upcoming Foo Fighters album were influenced by his personal struggles, grief, and self reflection during this period.
He described therapy as an ongoing process and said he is still working on improving himself and rebuilding trust with his family.
