Former adult film star Emily Willis is now at the center of a devastating legal battle after a medical emergency left her with life-altering injuries.
The 26-year-old, whose real name is Litzy Lara Banuelos, suffered a cardiac arrest while staying at a rehabilitation facility in California in early 2024. She had checked in seeking help for substance addiction, but her condition reportedly worsened during her stay.
According to the lawsuit filed by her family, staff at the facility allegedly failed to respond appropriately to clear warning signs that her health was deteriorating. Symptoms including tremors, disorientation, and severe physical distress were reportedly not escalated in time.
She was eventually found unresponsive, and paramedics had to perform prolonged CPR to restore her heartbeat. However, the delay in oxygen supply caused severe and irreversible brain damage.
After regaining consciousness, Willis was left in a condition where she is aware of her surroundings but unable to move or communicate normally — something doctors have linked to a possible form of locked-in syndrome.
Her family claims the situation could have been prevented with proper care, accusing the rehab center of negligence, abuse, and failing to provide adequate medical attention. The facility, however, has denied responsibility.
Today, Willis remains bedridden and requires full-time care. While she has shown limited signs of responsiveness, she is still unable to speak and has only minimal movement.
The case is ongoing, with court proceedings expected to continue into 2026, as her family seeks accountability for what they describe as a preventable tragedy.
