Recently released body camera footage has revealed new details from the night Justin Timberlake was arrested for driving while intoxicated in New York. The footage comes from his 2024 arrest and was released after a legal dispute over whether the video should be made public.
Police pulled Timberlake over after he allegedly ran a stop sign and briefly drove out of his lane. Officers then conducted field sobriety tests on the side of the road, which were captured on body camera video.
During the tests, Timberlake appeared nervous and told officers that the tests were difficult. He also mentioned that his heart was racing while trying to complete the balance and walking tests.
The video also shows Timberlake telling officers that he was on a world tour and that he had been following friends home before he was stopped. At one point, he identified himself to the officer during the traffic stop.
Police said he performed poorly on the sobriety tests and he was later placed under arrest. Reports also state that he refused to take a breathalyzer test at the time of the stop.
The footage was not released immediately after the arrest because Timberlake’s legal team tried to block it, arguing that it would damage his reputation and reveal private information. The video was eventually released with some parts removed.
Timberlake later accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to a lesser offense related to impaired driving. As part of the agreement, he paid a fine, completed community service, and recorded a public safety message about the dangers of drinking and driving.
The release of the body cam footage has brought renewed attention to the incident and sparked discussion online about the arrest and the events shown in the video.
