New developments have emerged in the case of Nancy Guthrie, the 84‑year‑old mother of “Today” show co‑anchor Savannah Guthrie, who has been missing since January 31, 2026.

On April 6, media outlet TMZ reported it received two new ransom letters from an anonymous sender claiming to have information about Nancy’s disappearance and whereabouts. One note claims the sender saw her alive in Sonora, Mexico, while the other suggests the sender knows who was involved and where her body might be.
Both letters reportedly demanded payment in Bitcoin in exchange for details, continuing a pattern of anonymous communications that began earlier in the investigation. Law enforcement, including the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Office, has been reviewing all tips and sharing relevant information with authorities.
Authorities have not verified the credibility of the note writer, and experts have pointed out that timing and vague content raise suspicion about their legitimacy. However, officials say each lead is taken seriously while the search continues.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home in Catalina Foothills, Arizona, and investigators suspect she was abducted. Despite extensive searches and multiple ransom notes over the past two months, there has been no confirmed sighting or verified contact with her captors.

The new letters arrived the same day Savannah Guthrie made her emotional return to “Today”, where she thanked fans for their support but did not provide updates on her mother’s status.
As the case continues, official channels urge anyone with credible information to contact law enforcement, and a reward remains in place for verified leads.
