Tensions have increased in the ongoing conflict with Iran after the United Kingdom allowed the United States to use British military bases for operations related to the war.
One of the bases involved is Diego Garcia, a joint UK and US military base located in the Indian Ocean that plays an important role in military operations in the region.
Following the decision, Iranian officials issued a warning saying British lives could be put in danger because of the UK’s involvement and support in the conflict.
Reports also said missiles were fired toward the Diego Garcia base, although the attack was unsuccessful and the missiles did not hit the base.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said there is currently no evidence that Iran is targeting mainland Britain, but officials continue to monitor the situation closely.
The conflict has raised concerns about further escalation and the possibility that more countries could become involved if tensions continue to rise.
The situation remains ongoing as world leaders continue discussions and military operations continue in the region.
