Lionel Messi and the Inter Miami FC team visited the White House on Thursday to commemorate their 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup victory against the Vancouver Whitecaps. During the visit, the team presented former President Donald Trump with several commemorative gifts.

Trump welcomed the championship-winning squad at the White House, where Jorge Mas, co-owner of Inter Miami FC, and Messi personally presented the former president with a series of special items. Among the gifts was a team jersey bearing the number 47, symbolizing Trump’s status as the 47th President of the United States.

In addition to the jersey, the team gave Trump a custom soccer ball celebrating their title win. The highlight of the exchange was a limited edition Inter Miami pink Tudor watch, which was reportedly engraved with “DJT” on the back, adding a personal touch.

This visit marked Lionel Messi’s first trip to the White House, a detail that Trump emphasized during the meeting. The former president also mentioned that his son, Baron Trump, is a fan of Messi and had met with the soccer star earlier that day.

The event featured more notable figures, including Major League Baseball legend Alex Rodriguez, who serves as an ambassador for the city of Miami. The gathering celebrated both the recent sporting achievement and the connection between the team and political figures.

Following the White House visit, Inter Miami FC will shift focus back to their upcoming game on Saturday at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, where they are scheduled to face D.C. United.
