Logan Paul, the YouTube personality and WWE star, has completed the sale of the rare Pikachu Illustrator Pokémon card for a record-breaking $16.492 million. The card is one of only 39 produced, originally awarded for a late 1990s Pokémon illustration contest, and is widely regarded as the most coveted trading card in existence. Paul had previously purchased the card in 2021 for $5.275 million.

After 42 days and 97 bids in the auction, the Grade 10 card changed hands, earning Paul more than $8 million in profit. Celebrating the sale as confetti fell at the close of bidding, Paul expressed excitement for the transaction and the new chapter it would bring. A Guinness World Records official confirmed the sale set a new benchmark for the most expensive trading card ever sold.

The card came with a diamond-encrusted necklace, adding to its exclusivity. Paul has described his ownership of the card as a significant experience, linking it to milestones in his career across Guinness World Records, WWE, Netflix, and more. He noted it felt like completing a major achievement in a game and preparing for a new journey.

Ken Goldin, founder and CEO of Goldin Auctions, referred to the Pikachu Illustrator card as the “holy grail” of Pokémon collectibles. Paul has spoken publicly about the investment potential of collectibles, highlighting their strong performance compared to traditional stock market investments over the past two decades. He encouraged younger investors not to shy away from taking calculated risks in alternative asset classes.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Logan Paul’s current net worth is estimated at $150 million. This sale marks a significant moment in the collectibles market, further elevating the status and demand for ultra-rare Pokémon cards.
