Peter Attia, a longevity expert and influencer, has resigned from his position as a CBS News contributor following the release of the latest batch of Jeffrey Epstein files, in which his name appears over 1,700 times. Attia, 52, who recently joined CBS News at the invitation of top editor Bari Weiss, stepped down only days after the files became public, amid revelations of his previous correspondence with Epstein. The emails included crude remarks about women’s genitalia, which Attia later described as “embarrassing, tasteless, and indefensible.” He expressed regret, stating, “The man I am today, roughly ten years later, would not write them and would not associate with Epstein at all.”
In addition to leaving CBS News, Attia has also stepped down from his role as chief science officer at David Protein, a protein bar company, and is no longer listed as an advisor for the sleep technology firm Eight Sleep. The Epstein files have implicated a number of other high-profile individuals, resulting in resignations and other professional changes. Among those impacted are Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew; Casey Wasserman, a talent agent and organizer of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, who announced the sale of his talent agency; Kathryn Ruemmler, former Goldman Sachs lawyer, who resigned after disclosing she received career advice from Epstein; and Brad Karp, chairman at the law firm Paul Weiss, who also stepped down following disclosures of his connections to Epstein.
Attia is known for his work in longevity science, hosting podcasts and producing videos focused on extending healthy lifespan, and authoring the book “Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity.” His resignation from CBS News and other affiliated roles came swiftly after the recent exposure of his association with Epstein, signaling significant repercussions for those named in the documents. The Epstein files continue to shed light on the connections between the convicted sex offender and various prominent figures across different industries.
