A 45‑year‑old man from Great Barrington, Massachusetts was arrested after making repeated online threats against President Donald Trump, including references to using a sword.

Federal prosecutors allege Andrew Emerald posted a series of threatening messages on Facebook in 2025, saying he would travel to Trump’s resort if the president “was not dead by 2026.”

In one post, he reportedly said he would stick a sword through the president’s throat.

When FBI agents went to execute an arrest warrant, Emerald refused to come out and brandished a long sword at authorities. After negotiations, he eventually surrendered.

Officials say they seized multiple bladed weapons at his home.

Emerald has been federally indicted on eight charges, including interstate threatening communications. He pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail pending a hearing.

Each charge carries potential prison time and fines, and prosecutors presented evidence that the threats were serious and persistent.

The FBI says the case came to light after a concerned citizen reported the posts, highlighting how authorities act on online threats against public officials.
