Noel Clarke, the actor known for his roles in Doctor Who and Kidulthood, was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, exposure, and sexual assault by touching. The arrest was made by the Metropolitan Police and is connected to an alleged sexual offence that took place in 2007 in London involving a woman in her 20s.
Clarke, aged 50, attended Islington police station by appointment on Tuesday, accompanied by his wife and legal counsel. He was questioned by detectives from the Met’s Central Specialist Crime Command and was subsequently released on bail while investigations continue.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that Clarke was also interviewed regarding a voyeurism allegation related to an offence allegedly committed in 2013, also involving a woman in her 20s. This previous allegation had led to his arrest in September 2025.
Clarke rose to prominence playing Mickey Smith in the BBC series Doctor Who from 2005 to 2010. He later established himself as an actor, writer, producer, and director. However, his career faced significant setbacks in 2021 after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct, claims he denied.
In August 2022, Clarke lost a high-profile libel case against a newspaper publisher following reports of these allegations. The court ordered him to pay at least £3 million in legal costs, with potential total costs estimated at £6 million. Clarke had represented himself during the proceedings and challenged the financial demands.
The investigation by the Metropolitan Police remains active as further inquiries are conducted. Clarke’s representatives have not provided a statement regarding the recent arrest.
