Brazilian photographer Marcos Alberti set out to document how people’s faces and moods change after drinking wine. He invited friends to his studio and took a series of photos at key moments.

The project, called The Wine Project, began as a light‑hearted idea among friends and quickly gained attention online. Alberti first photographed subjects when they were sober.

He then took pictures after they had one glass of wine, showing subtle shifts in expression and mood.

After two glasses, his friends appeared more relaxed, warmer toward the camera and visibly more at ease.

By the third glass, many of the subjects showed clear signs of enjoyment and loosened inhibitions.

Health experts say alcohol affects the brain in stages, starting with slight changes in judgment and reaction time after one drink.

As more wine is consumed, areas of the brain that control speech, movement and judgment are increasingly affected.

The final images offer a visual and candid look at how social drinking can influence mood and confidence, sparking discussion about alcohol, expression and art.
