A 21 year old man has been charged with murder after police say he shot and killed his grandmother following an argument over allowance money in Arlington, Texas.
According to police, officers responded to an apartment complex after a family member found the 68 year old woman lying unresponsive on her apartment patio with a blanket covering her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators later arrested the woman’s grandson, identified as Rontrell Jackson. Police said the two had recently gotten into a heated argument that resulted in Jackson losing his allowance money.
Authorities say Jackson admitted to shooting his grandmother inside the apartment earlier that morning and then dragging her body onto the patio before covering her with a blanket. Police also recovered a firearm believed to be the weapon used in the shooting.
Jackson was arrested and charged with murder and is currently being held in jail on a $750,000 bond while the investigation continues.
Neighbors said they were shocked by what happened, with many saying it was hard to believe someone could lose their life over an argument about money.
The victim’s name has not yet been publicly released as authorities continue to notify family members and continue the investigation into the incident.
