Residents across multiple states were left stunned after a powerful boom suddenly shook homes and rattled windows.

The sound, reported across parts of Ohio and beyond, initially sparked confusion, with many fearing an explosion or earthquake.

But officials later confirmed the real cause — a massive meteor entering Earth’s atmosphere at high speed.

According to NASA, the object was roughly 6 feet wide and weighed thousands of pounds as it traveled through the sky at extreme speed.

As it tore through the atmosphere, the meteor created a bright fireball before breaking apart midair.

That fragmentation triggered a powerful sonic boom, which is what people across several states actually heard and felt.

Reports flooded in from residents who described their homes shaking, with some saying it felt like something had hit their house.

The meteor was first spotted above Lake Erie before continuing across the region and eventually breaking apart over northern Ohio.

Experts say events like this, while dramatic, are not entirely rare — though the size and visibility of this one made it especially noticeable.

As of now, no confirmed injuries have been reported, though small fragments may have reached the ground.
