British actress Tamzin Outhwaite has opened up about her dating life — and why she’s not interested in relationships with men her own age.
The former EastEnders star, now in her 50s, previously ended a long-term relationship with a younger partner, who was around 20 years her junior. Despite the breakup, she has made it clear she’s in no rush to settle down again.
Speaking candidly about her current mindset, Outhwaite explained that she’s actually enjoying being single more than ever. For the first time in her life, she feels completely comfortable focusing on herself instead of a relationship.
She admitted that romance is no longer a top priority, saying she simply doesn’t feel like she has the time or energy to invest in it right now. Instead, she values independence and personal growth over searching for a partner.
Interestingly, if she does return to dating, she revealed she’s unlikely to choose someone her own age. Outhwaite said she naturally gravitates toward younger men, explaining that she still feels much younger than her actual age.
She even joked that she often misjudges people’s ages, assuming men are closer to her stage in life — only to realize they’re significantly younger.
Her perspective reflects a broader shift in how she views relationships. Rather than looking for someone to “complete” her, she believes it’s more important to build a strong sense of self first.
Outhwaite has also spoken about how past relationships shaped her outlook, including her previous marriage to actor Tom Ellis, with whom she shares children.
For now, she seems content embracing independence — and isn’t ruling out love entirely, but only if it fits into the life she’s built on her own terms.
