President Donald Trump has issued a stark new threat to Iran, warning Tehran it has only 48 hours to open the Strait of Hormuz or face severe military action.

Trump posted on social media that time is running out for Iran to agree to U.S. demands, calling on the country to reopen the strategic waterway that handles about a fifth of the world’s oil trade.

The warning came amid an ongoing war between the U.S.‑led coalition and Iranian forces, now more than a month old. Trump has repeatedly pledged the U.S. will strike Iranian infrastructure if Tehran does not comply with U.S. goals.

In a recent prime‑time address, Trump said American forces are on track to complete military objectives but warned of further intensified strikes if Iran fails to back down.

Iran has responded by vowing “crushing, more destructive” attacks on the U.S. and Israel, signaling the conflict could deepen rather than ease.

The ongoing war has disrupted global oil markets, with prices rising sharply as the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively blocked.

Despite Trump’s assertion that the conflict could end soon, international observers note the situation remains volatile with no clear diplomatic resolution yet in sight.
