Kat Von D is once again drawing attention after revealing the dramatic transformation of her body art.
The former LA Ink star has spent years covering most of her tattoos with solid black ink — a process often referred to as a “blackout” tattoo.
But before the transformation, her body was covered in detailed and highly personal designs, many of which told stories from different periods of her life.

Her earlier tattoos included portraits, lettering, and symbolic artwork spread across nearly every part of her body.
Among them were tributes to family members, references to past relationships, and various artistic pieces that had become part of her signature look.
In 2020, she began the long process of covering those designs, eventually sitting through around 17 sessions totaling nearly 40 hours of tattooing.
The goal, she explained, was both aesthetic and personal — creating what she described as a “clean slate” while moving away from parts of her past.
Now, much of her body is covered in black ink, with only a few meaningful tattoos intentionally left visible.

The transformation has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising the bold change while others remain surprised by how different she looks today.
Regardless, the before-and-after contrast continues to fascinate fans, showing just how much her appearance — and story — has evolved.
