“I’m glad you’re all here,” I said calmly. “Because I have a surprise too.”
The room went completely silent.
Nick frowned. My sister’s smile flickered.
They weren’t expecting that.
They were expecting tears. Screaming. A scene.
Not this.
I stepped forward, my voice steady.
“Before anything continues,” I said, “I think everyone deserves to see what they’re actually celebrating today.”
Nick shifted uncomfortably. “What are you doing?” he hissed.
I didn’t answer him.
Instead, I nodded toward the back.
The church doors opened again.
And in walked the wedding planner… holding a tablet.
The screen lit up.
A video.
At first, people looked confused.
Then the audio started.
Nick’s voice.
Clear. Undeniable.
“I’m not marrying her for love,” he laughed. “She’s just… convenient. We split everything, and once we’re married, I’ll have access to it all.”
A ripple went through the crowd.
My sister’s face went pale.
Then her voice joined in.
“Relax,” she said in the recording. “Once the wedding’s done, we’ll figure out how to push her out. I’m not sharing him forever.”
Gasps filled the room.
My mother’s hands dropped to her sides.
Nick stepped forward, panicking. “This is taken out of context—”
“Oh, it gets better,” I said quietly.
The video continued.
Messages. Photos. Hotel receipts.
Proof.
Not just betrayal.
A plan.
A long, careful plan.
I looked at my sister.
“You didn’t just steal my dress,” I said. “You tried to steal my life.”
Silence.
Heavy.
Unforgiving.
Nick looked around, desperate now. “This is insane. Turn it off!”
“No,” I said.
Then I turned to the guests.
“All of you came here for a wedding,” I said. “So let’s have one thing be real today.”
I took a breath.
“I’m not marrying him.”
The words echoed.
Final.
My sister’s voice trembled. “You think this makes you look good?”
I smiled.
“No,” I said softly.
“It makes me free.”
I turned away from them.
Walked down the aisle.
Not as a bride.
But as someone who refused to be humiliated.
Behind me, the whispers started.
Then louder.
Then chaos.
And for the first time since that morning…
I felt completely in control.
