Authorities Urge Public to Avoid Spreading False Information
The Twin Falls Police Department has released new information following Saturday’s deadly shooting at an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho, while urging the public to rely on verified updates as the investigation continues.
Police identified the suspect as 24-year-old Chad Williams, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officials also stated that social media posts incorrectly identifying another individual as the shooter are false, asking the public not to share unverified claims that could interfere with the investigation.
Three Killed, Seven Others Injured
According to investigators, three people were killed and seven others were injured during the shooting. Authorities said two of the injured victims have been treated and released from the hospital, three remain in stable condition, and two are in critical condition.
Police cautioned that these numbers could change as investigators continue confirming information and notifying families.
Quick Response Helped Limit Further Harm
Emergency dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire at approximately 2:29 p.m. Officers from local, state, and federal agencies quickly responded, along with firefighters and paramedics who treated victims at the scene.
Investigators praised an off-duty Idaho State Police trooper and a civilian who returned fire at the suspect. Police believe their actions helped force the gunman away from the area and may have prevented additional casualties.
Separate Officer-Involved Shooting Under Review
While searching for the suspect, officers were involved in a separate shooting. Authorities confirmed no one was injured during that incident, which is being investigated independently by the Jerome Police Department under standard procedures.
Police have not released additional details about that investigation.

Crisis counselors have been made available for victims, witnesses, and community members affected by the tragedy. The FBI is also assisting local authorities and is establishing a dedicated website for victims seeking information and support.
Officials are asking anyone who has photos, videos, or other digital evidence from the incident to submit it directly to investigators rather than sharing it on social media. Authorities say verified evidence could play an important role in the ongoing investigation.
