Singer Opens Up About Privacy and Personal Healing
Paris Jackson is embracing a more private approach when it comes to discussing her late father, Michael Jackson, saying she no longer feels obligated to publicly share details about their relationship.
Speaking on a recent podcast, the singer-songwriter explained that she has reached a point where she feels comfortable keeping some aspects of her life personal. According to Paris, the bond she shared with her father remains deeply meaningful, but she believes it doesn’t need to be put on display for others.
‘I Don’t Have to Share That With Anybody’
Paris said she has learned that she can maintain a personal relationship with her father’s memory without feeling pressure to explain it to the public.
She described her connection with Michael as one of the most beautiful relationships in her life and said there is a sense of freedom that comes from no longer feeling responsible for proving that bond to anyone else.
Letting Go of Public Expectations
The 28-year-old revealed that for years she felt an expectation to publicly honor her father on significant dates such as his birthday, Father’s Day, and the anniversary of his death.
However, she explained that her perspective has changed. Paris now believes that she and her family do not owe the public constant displays of remembrance and should be allowed to grieve and celebrate Michael’s legacy in their own way.
Remembering Her ‘Best Friend’
Paris also emphasized that her relationship with Michael was unique because she knew him not just as a global superstar, but as her father.
She said she doesn’t feel the need to express her love for him in the same way fans might, explaining that her experience was personal and deeply rooted in family. Referring to Michael as her “best friend,” she highlighted the special connection they shared before his death in 2009.
Close Bond With Her Mother
While Paris remains protective of her memories of her father, she has been more open about her relationship with her mother, Debbie Rowe.
The pair reconnected when Paris was a teenager and have developed a strong friendship over the years. Paris has previously spoken about discovering shared interests with her mother, including a mutual appreciation for music.
Carrying On the Jackson Legacy
Paris, along with her brothers Prince and Bigi Jackson, continues to attract public attention as the children of one of music’s most influential figures.
Despite that spotlight, Paris appears determined to set boundaries around what she chooses to share, making it clear that some of her most treasured memories are meant to remain private.
