After months away from the public eye, Adele has made a rare appearance, delighting fans as she attended the British Grand Prix alongside a host of celebrities.
The Grammy-winning singer stepped back from performing in 2024 after telling fans she planned to take an extended break from the spotlight. At the time, Adele explained that after years of touring and building a new chapter in her life, she simply wanted time to enjoy it.
“I will not see you for an incredibly long time,” she told fans during her farewell message. “I just need a rest.”
Spending More Time With Family
During her appearance at the Formula 1 event, Adele revealed that much of her time away has been dedicated to her 13-year-old son, Angelo, whom she shares with former husband Simon Konecki.
Speaking with McLaren CEO Zak Brown and drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, the singer explained that Formula 1 has become a shared passion between mother and son.
She revealed that Angelo developed an interest in karting several years ago, inspiring her to learn more about the sport alongside him.
A New Passion Off the Stage
Adele admitted she has become just as enthusiastic about Formula 1 as her son.
“When your kid has an interest, you have to lean into it,” she explained. “More importantly, I think you have to be interested in it.”
Her appearance at the British Grand Prix reflected that growing passion, as she was seen wearing a shirt supporting McLaren driver and reigning world champion Lando Norris.
Continuing Her Education
Music isn’t the only thing keeping Adele busy.
Reports suggest the singer has also been working toward studying English Literature, something she has wanted to pursue for years.
She previously told fans that if she had never become a global music star, she likely would have become an English literature teacher.
“I definitely think I use my passion for English lit in what I do,” Adele said during a fan Q&A in 2022, adding that she hoped to complete her studies online with a tutor.
Fans Welcome Her Return
Although Adele has not announced when she will return to recording or touring, her latest appearance has reassured fans that she’s enjoying life away from the pressures of constant public attention.
For now, the singer appears focused on spending quality time with family, exploring new interests, and pursuing personal goals before making her eventual return to music.
