Just days after Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce exchanged vows in one of the year’s most talked-about celebrity weddings, the designer behind the bride’s custom gown is opening up about the experience.
Jonathan Anderson, Dior’s creative director, described designing Swift’s wedding dress as both a privilege and an emotional journey, offering the first personal glimpse into the creation of the closely guarded bridal look.
Jonathan Anderson reflects on the collaboration
Speaking to WWD, Anderson said working with Swift was “a joy” and revealed the two developed a close friendship throughout the design process.
“It’s an emotional thing doing someone’s wedding,” the designer said, explaining that creating a bridal gown carries a unique responsibility because of the significance of the occasion.
A custom Dior creation
Swift’s representatives confirmed that both the bride and groom wore custom Christian Dior Haute Couture looks created by Anderson in close collaboration with the couple. Swift completed her bridal ensemble with custom Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewelry, while the couture garments were crafted at Dior’s historic ateliers in Paris.
The wedding, held on July 3 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, was kept remarkably private despite attracting worldwide attention.
Dior’s biggest bridal moment in years
The project marked a milestone for Anderson, who joined Dior in 2025. According to the fashion house, Swift’s gown became his first couture wedding dress designed for a globally recognized celebrity, adding another landmark achievement to the designer’s rapidly growing tenure.
Interest surrounding the dress only grew after Dior unveiled its latest Haute Couture collection in Paris, where several bridal-inspired designs fueled speculation about the details of Swift’s still-unseen gown.
A whirlwind week behind the scenes
Anderson’s schedule leading up to the wedding was packed. After debuting Dior’s latest menswear collection in Paris, he traveled to New York to oversee the final preparations for Swift and Kelce’s ceremony before returning to France for the brand’s Fall/Winter 2026 Haute Couture presentation just days later.
The intense schedule reflected the importance Dior placed on one of the fashion world’s highest-profile bridal commissions.
A wedding that captivated fans
Although only limited details have been released publicly, the couple’s ceremony has already become one of the defining celebrity events of 2026. The combination of a secretive venue, custom couture and meticulous planning has fueled enormous interest among both music fans and fashion enthusiasts.
With Anderson now sharing his experience, fans have gained their first official insight into the creative process behind one of the year’s most iconic celebrity wedding looks.
