A Star-Studded Celebration for a Landmark Album
Jay-Z kicked off his three-night run at Yankee Stadium with a celebration marking the 30th anniversary of his iconic debut album, Reasonable Doubt. The sold-out concert became one of the biggest hip-hop events of the year, featuring surprise appearances from Beyoncé, Blue Ivy Carter, Nas, Alicia Keys, and several other special guests.
The Brooklyn rapper performed songs from Reasonable Doubt while also revisiting hits from throughout his career, turning the night into a celebration of both his musical legacy and New York hip-hop.
Beyoncé Surprises Fans During the Opening
Fans erupted as Beyoncé appeared early in the show to perform the vocals from “Can’t Knock the Hustle,” originally sung by Mary J. Blige on the 1996 album.
Her unexpected appearance set the tone for an evening filled with surprises, while Jay-Z delivered many of the tracks from Reasonable Doubt alongside a live band.
Blue Ivy and Hip-Hop Legends Join the Stage
One of the night’s most emotional moments came when Blue Ivy Carter joined her father on stage, playing piano during “Feelin’ It.” The performance earned a huge ovation as Jay-Z smiled proudly while watching his daughter perform.
The celebration also included appearances from Nas, who performed New York classics alongside Jay-Z, while Alicia Keys closed the show with the Grammy-winning anthem “Empire State of Mind,” bringing the stadium to its feet.
