Rebecca Auborn, a 36-year-old woman from Columbus, Ohio, was sentenced on Thursday to four consecutive life sentences with the possibility of parole after 60 years. The sentence was handed down following her guilty plea to charges related to fatally drugging four men with fentanyl during robberies. Auborn was also convicted of felonious assault for an attempted overdose involving another man.

Auborn was indicted in 2023 on accusations that she met men for sex and subsequently administered fentanyl to incapacitate them before stealing their belongings. Initially entering a not guilty plea, she later changed it to guilty late last year. A judge in Franklin County imposed four consecutive life sentences, each allowing parole eligibility after 15 years.

Ohio Attorney General David Yost commented on the sentence, emphasizing the severity of the defendant’s actions, stating, “This sentence reflects the defendant’s disregard for life and the callousness not only to kill, but to do it repeatedly.” He expressed sympathy for the families affected and hopes the ruling provides them with closure and peace.

The investigation began when the Central Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force received reports about a sex worker dosing men to facilitate theft. All incidents occurred between 2022 and 2023. Auborn’s crimes are linked to using sex as a way to lure victims before fatally administering fentanyl.

Authorities suspect there may be additional victims, but official charges remain centered on the four confirmed fatalities and the attempted overdose. Auborn’s case has drawn attention due to the use of fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid, in the crimes, highlighting concerns over drug-related offenses and victim vulnerability.

The sentencing concludes a lengthy investigation and court proceedings, bringing legal resolution to a case involving multiple deaths in the Columbus area.
