Four American service members have been killed, and additional personnel seriously wounded, amid ongoing combat operations against Iran, the U.S. military confirmed on Monday. The casualties mark the first acknowledged U.S. losses since the commencement of coordinated strikes by U.S. and Israeli forces targeting Iran, which began on Saturday.

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), three service members were initially reported killed and five seriously wounded during the early phases of the conflict. Subsequently, a fourth service member, who sustained severe injuries from Iranian attacks, passed away, raising the total U.S. death toll to four.

CENTCOM stated that major combat operations continue as the military response effort is ongoing. The command has withheld the names of the deceased until proper notification has been made to their next of kin. Details regarding the specific circumstances, locations, or whether the casualties occurred during offensive or defensive actions have not been disclosed.

Several other U.S. service members have sustained shrapnel wounds and concussions amid the hostilities. Meanwhile, the military reported a friendly fire incident in which three American F-15E fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti forces. All six crew members ejected safely and are currently in stable condition.

The conflict has resulted in significant casualties on all sides. Iranian strikes have caused numerous fatalities and injuries in Israel and the United Arab Emirates, while U.S. and Israeli airstrikes have inflicted heavy losses within Iran. Israeli military sources claimed responsibility for killing 40 senior Iranian commanders, including assertions targeting the country’s Supreme Leader.

U.S. forces operating on land, in the air, and at sea have participated in extensive strikes against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, targeting command centers, air defenses, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields. Additionally, U.S. military personnel have conducted air defense missions to protect American assets and allies in the region from Iranian missile and drone retaliations.

Iran has launched missile attacks against U.S. bases in Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, while also targeting other Middle Eastern countries, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Iraq.

President Donald Trump addressed the nation, acknowledging the possibility of American casualties and pledging retribution for the fallen service members. He described the mission as noble and emphasized its long-term significance, despite the risk of further losses.

The situation remains fluid as military operations and retaliatory strikes continue across the Middle East.
