Following her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence in Ventura County, California, Britney Spears has communicated with her mother Lynne Spears and her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. Sources close to the family confirmed that Lynne Spears contacted Britney shortly after learning about the arrest and subsequent release from jail Thursday morning to offer support and assistance. The conversation between mother and daughter was described as positive and hopeful. Lynne and Britney have reportedly been on good terms since their first face-to-face reunion in several years, which took place in Los Angeles in May 2023. Though they speak frequently by phone, they have yet to see each other in person since then, but Lynne has expressed willingness to visit Britney. Britney also spoke to her two sons upon returning home but has not met any family members face-to-face post-release. Historically, the relationship between Britney and Lynne has experienced challenges, particularly during the period of Britney’s conservatorship, which Britney has publicly criticized. In 2021, Britney alleged that Lynne played a role in initiating the conservatorship, leading to lasting strain between them. That same year, Lynne was reportedly not invited to Britney’s wedding to Sam Asghari. Communication between them has fluctuated, including moments of public dispute on social media, but the meeting in 2023 suggested a potential thaw in their relationship. Despite progress, sources indicated in September 2025 that the bond remained complicated and fragile. Britney’s court appearance regarding the DUI charge is scheduled for May 4. No further family visits have been confirmed as of now.
