Mount Sinai Health System has initiated a thorough review of the relationship between Dr. Eva Andersson-Dubin, a prominent physician at the hospital and former model, and Jeffrey Epstein. This investigation follows the emergence of documents highlighting their association.
A spokesperson for Mount Sinai affirmed the institution’s stance, stating, “Jeffrey Epstein’s actions are abhorrent, reprehensible, and stand in direct opposition to what Mount Sinai believes in and stands for as an institution and as medical professionals.” The representative added that the hospital is committed to ensuring that all patients receive the highest level of care and respect but declined to comment on individual clinical care.
The hospital has begun carefully reviewing all relevant information and emphasized its intention to take any necessary measures in response. The scrutiny comes after reports that Dr. Andersson-Dubin maintained a close relationship with Epstein, even following his 2008 conviction for soliciting and procuring a minor for prostitution.
According to reports, Epstein referred to Dr. Andersson-Dubin’s daughter, Celina, as his “goddaughter.” It has also been reported by Business Insider that when Celina was 19 years old, Epstein expressed an intention to marry her, though a family spokesperson indicated the comment was made offhandedly and the family was unaware of this.
Years after Epstein became a registered sex offender, Dr. Andersson-Dubin allegedly invited him to her home in Colorado during a time when Celina was hosting friends. Currently, Celina, aged 30, is also a doctor at Mount Sinai.
Mount Sinai continues its evaluation as more details emerge, affirming its commitment to uphold its institutional values and patient care standards amidst these revelations.
