Longtime BBC radio presenter Scott Mills has been dismissed from the BBC following allegations related to his “personal conduct,” according to reports.

The broadcaster confirmed that Mills is no longer under contract with the BBC after nearly 30 years with the company, where he worked across several major radio programs including the Radio 2 Breakfast Show.

Reports later revealed that the dismissal came after historic allegations connected to a police investigation involving alleged sexual offences against a teenage boy dating back to between 1997 and 2000. Mills was questioned under caution in 2018, but the case was later closed due to insufficient evidence and no charges were filed.

Despite the case being closed years earlier, the BBC reportedly terminated his contract following a complaint related to personal conduct, though the organization has not publicly disclosed full details due to privacy policies.

Mills had only recently taken over the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show in 2025 and had been off air for several days before the announcement of his departure. Colleagues and listeners were reportedly shocked by the sudden decision.

The BBC said it would not comment further on individual cases, and Mills has not publicly responded to the reports as of now.

The sudden departure has sparked widespread discussion online, especially given Mills’ long career and prominent role at the broadcaster.
