President Donald Trump has publicly criticized U.S. allies including the United Kingdom and France in a series of posts about the Middle East conflict and access to oil routes.
In one post discussing the Strait of Hormuz and global oil access, Trump wrote that countries relying on the shipping route should take more responsibility for protecting it themselves.

He continued by saying the United States would not continue protecting other countries without support.
“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us.”
Trump also claimed that Iran had already been heavily damaged during the conflict, writing:
“Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!”
In a separate post, Trump criticized France for refusing to allow military aircraft to fly over its territory.

The comments highlight growing tensions between the United States and some of its traditional allies over military involvement, oil shipping routes, and support in the Middle East.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most important oil shipping routes in the world, and any conflict in the region could have major impacts on global energy prices and international trade.
Trump has repeatedly argued that the United States has spent too much money and military resources protecting other countries and that allies should contribute more to global security and defense efforts.
The situation continues to develop as U.S. officials meet with troops and allies in the Middle East and Europe to discuss the ongoing conflict and international response.
