Country star opens up about setbacks on health journey

Jelly Roll has made a candid admission about his weight loss journey, revealing he recently “lost his way” and has been avoiding the scale out of fear.

The singer, who once weighed over 500 pounds, has already lost more than 300 pounds since beginning his transformation in 2021. But despite the massive progress, he says the journey hasn’t been straightforward.

Injury derails momentum at a crucial moment

In a recent update, Jelly Roll explained that a broken collarbone just before Christmas forced him to stop exercising altogether — a setback that disrupted his routine.

“I had to quit running, quit walking, quit exercising for some extended period of time,” he said.

The pause in activity led to a loss of structure, which he says impacted both his physical and mental progress.

“I’ve been avoiding the scale”

The artist admitted he’s unsure exactly where his weight stands now because he hasn’t checked.

“I haven’t weighed in. I’ve been avoiding the scale. I’m afraid to see what the scale is going to say,” he said.

Despite that uncertainty, he estimates he still has around 40 to 60 pounds left to reach his ultimate goal.

A journey rooted in deeper changes

Jelly Roll has previously spoken about tackling the root causes behind his weight, describing food as an addiction he had to confront.

“Once I started treating food like an addiction, it started changing everything for me,” he said in an earlier interview.

Medical evaluations also revealed serious health concerns, including extremely high blood sugar and insulin levels, along with low testosterone — leading to long-term treatment.

Still pushing toward a major goal

Even with the setback, Jelly Roll hasn’t given up.

He is currently working toward running the New York City Marathon and hopes to lose the remaining weight needed to reach his target.

The singer has also said he wants to achieve his goals without relying on weight-loss injections, aiming to show others that long-term change is possible through lifestyle adjustments.
