Court documents have revealed a series of text messages between former Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema and Matthew Ammel, a married man whose estranged wife has filed a lawsuit seeking damages for the alleged dissolution of their marriage.
The messages, which were submitted as part of legal proceedings by Heather Ammel, Matthew’s estranged wife, span several months in 2024 and paint a picture of personal communications between the former senator and Matthew Ammel.
According to court paperwork, the communications began in June 2024 when Sinema allegedly sent Matthew Ammel a concert ticket via text message for a Noah Kahan performance. The following month, July 2024, the former politician reportedly shared her location with him through messaging.
The most revealing message, according to the court documents, was sent on August 6, 2024. In this text, Sinema allegedly sent a four-digit code followed by the word “Enter” and then wrote: “I cannot sleep, I am miserable, and I want at least one of my pens back. You have them both. Pls give me one back now.”
The court filing also includes what Heather Ammel claims is an Instagram direct message from October 2024, in which Sinema allegedly wrote to Matthew: “I miss you. Putting my hand on your heart. I’ll see you soon.”
Upon discovering this message, Heather Ammel responded directly to the former senator through the same platform, asking: “Are you having an affair with my husband? You took a married man away from his family.” The court documents do not indicate whether Sinema responded to this inquiry.
These revelations come as part of a broader legal action initiated by Heather Ammel against the former Arizona senator. The lawsuit seeks damages based on allegations that Sinema’s involvement with Matthew Ammel contributed to the breakdown of the Ammels’ marriage.
The case highlights the intersection of personal relationships and public figures, as Sinema served as a United States Senator representing Arizona before leaving office. The legal proceedings have brought private communications into the public sphere through the court system.
The messages submitted to the court span a five-month period from June to October 2024, documenting what Heather Ammel characterizes as evidence of an inappropriate relationship between her husband and the former senator.
The lawsuit represents a civil action seeking monetary damages, with Heather Ammel alleging that the former senator’s actions caused harm to her marriage. The specific legal grounds for the lawsuit and the amount of damages being sought have not been disclosed in the available court documents.
As the case progresses through the legal system, these text messages and social media communications will likely play a central role in the proceedings. The court will need to determine the relevance and impact of these communications in relation to the claims made in the lawsuit.
