Anna Delvey (born Anna Sorokin) is developing a written memoir and a companion documentary that will trace her life before, during and after the widely publicized “fake heiress” scandal, according to reports by TMZ published May 18, 2026.
As reported by TMZ, Delvey says a “significant part” of the memoir is already developed and that the companion film is intended to extend the narrative beyond what she describes as reductive crime coverage.
Delvey told TMZ she is avoiding “another ‘crime story’ packaged for entertainment,” and will probe themes including “media, perception, ambition, reputation and the economics of attention.” She added: “There’s this assumption that life freezes at the moment the internet decides who you are, but in reality you still have to keep evolving while everyone else keeps projecting an outdated version of you onto the screen.”
The projects will cover a broad timeline, TMZ reports, from years before the scandal through her appearance on Dancing with the Stars and her period under house arrest in New York City amid ongoing U.S. immigration proceedings regarding her visa status.
Delvey — convicted in prior criminal proceedings of multiple felony charges, including grand larceny — was accused of stealing more than $200,000 from banks, luxury hotels and individuals. Her story has been the subject of extensive coverage, including the 2022 Netflix documentary Inventing Anna.
Among other details TMZ published, Delvey said she hopes the work will reach the big screen and mentioned Jennifer Lawrence as an actor she would like to portray her. She also noted recent commercial and media appearances, including an ad with Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop Home Delivery, and said she is focused on creating intellectual property and creative platforms rather than becoming a conventional influencer.
Delvey concluded that she is “rebuilding my life in spite of my past, not because of it.” TMZ’s report does not provide release dates for the memoir or documentary; both remain in development while her immigration matter continues.
