Barron Trump is facing criticism online after reports revealed he has been named a director of a new beverage company launching with $1 million in capital.

The 20-year-old, who is currently studying at New York University, is reportedly connected to Solos Yerba Mate, a startup promoting a caffeinated herbal tea drink inspired by the popular South American beverage.

Yerba mate is commonly marketed as an alternative to coffee because of its caffeine content and has grown increasingly popular in the United States wellness and energy drink market.

Company Markets “Sunshine State” Lifestyle

According to promotional material shared online, the company is positioning itself as a lifestyle-focused brand tied to Florida culture and outdoor living.

“Growing up in South Florida, our lifestyle was shaped by the opportunity to spend time outdoors year-round,” the company wrote on LinkedIn.

“That experience led us to create Solos, a beverage designed to complement life in the sunshine state.”

The company also explained the meaning behind its branding, stating: “Sol, meaning sun in Spanish, represents the sun rising and the beginning of the day. LOS, which is Sol spelled backwards, represents the sun setting and the end of the day.”

Social Media Critics Accuse Family of “Grifting”

News of Barron Trump’s involvement quickly sparked backlash online, with critics accusing the Trump family of using its political profile to support business ventures.

“Yet another potential avenue of seeking to influence the president through his family’s assorted business schemes,” one user wrote on X.

“This is just another attempt to make money,” another commenter posted.

Others were even more direct, with one person writing: “Nepotism at its finest.”

“No surprise that Barron is taking some random role to help the family grift,” another critic added.

A separate commenter wrote: “Like mother, like father, like son. Always grifting.”

Supporters Defend the Business Move

Despite the criticism, supporters argued that Barron Trump should be allowed to pursue business opportunities independently and pointed out that many children of wealthy or politically connected families enter business ventures at a young age.

Others noted that celebrity-backed lifestyle and beverage brands have become increasingly common in recent years.

At this stage, there is no suggestion of any legal wrongdoing involving the company or Barron Trump’s role in the business.

Growing Attention Around Barron Trump

Unlike several other members of the Trump family, Barron Trump has largely remained out of the political spotlight over the years.

Because of that, his reported involvement in a high-profile startup has generated significant attention online, particularly given the Trump family’s long history of branding and commercial ventures.

As debate continues across social media, the launch of Solos Yerba Mate is already drawing major public attention before the company officially enters the market.
