The deaths of three sisters whose bodies were discovered near a popular beach in Brighton, England, have taken an even more heartbreaking turn as family members revealed they were still deeply affected by the loss of their mother years earlier.
Authorities identified the women as Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walter, 32, and Rebecca Walter, 31. Their bodies were recovered near Brighton’s seafront on May 13, and police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Family Shares Heartbreaking History
According to relatives, the sisters’ mother, Janice Adetoro, died in a drowning incident in 2010 after she was reported missing from her home in Birmingham.

The loss had a profound impact on the three siblings. Their aunt, Ajike Johnson, told British media that the sisters were traumatized by their mother’s death and “never recovered” from the tragedy.
After their mother’s passing, the sisters moved in with their father, Joseph, and stepmother, Genevieve Barnaby-Adetoro, who helped raise them through the difficult years that followed.
Father Left Devastated
Family members described Joseph as overwhelmed by grief following the deaths of all three daughters.

Relatives said the sisters shared an exceptionally close bond and remained deeply connected throughout their lives. They reportedly spoke with each other daily and were known for spending much of their free time together.
Their aunt described them as caring, family-oriented women whose deaths came as a complete shock to those who knew them.

Investigation Continues
Sussex Police have stated that there is currently no evidence suggesting criminal involvement or third-party participation in the deaths.
Detectives are continuing to gather information and establish the full circumstances surrounding what happened. Authorities have not released further details while the investigation remains ongoing.
Emotional Tribute from Their Father
Following the identification of his daughters, Joseph Adetoro issued a moving public statement honoring their lives.
He described Jane, Christina and Rebecca as the source of his joy, strength and happiness, saying the loss had left an emptiness that words could not heal.
While expressing the immense pain of losing all three daughters, he said he would continue to cherish the memories, laughter and love they shared as a family.
For relatives and friends, the tragedy is made even more painful by the family’s earlier loss, a wound they say never truly healed.
