Barbie Ferreira has spoken out strongly against what she describes as an unhealthy obsession with celebrity body talk online, saying people have become too comfortable commenting on appearances.

During a recent appearance on the podcast “Not Skinny But Not Fat,” the former Euphoria star criticized the constant focus on “glow ups” and body transformations in pop culture discussions.

Ferreira, 29, said the trend has become repetitive and harmful, describing it as “boring” and driven more by online engagement than genuine conversation.

She argued that social media users often reduce celebrities to before-and-after narratives, pointing out how quickly people label changes as either a “glow up” or a “glow down,” even when the individuals involved are still young.

Ferreira added that this type of commentary is not limited to her own experience, but affects many actors and public figures who are frequently analyzed under a microscope.

She said the issue has become widespread in the entertainment industry, with celebrities often judged for being “too skinny” or “too big” depending on shifting public perception.

According to Ferreira, much of this discourse is fueled by what she called “rage bait,” suggesting that controversial or emotional reactions are being used to drive engagement on social media platforms.

She also warned that this constant scrutiny can have real emotional effects, especially on younger people growing up in the public eye.

Ferreira has previously been open about facing public criticism regarding her appearance, particularly during and after her role in “Euphoria,” where her physical transformation became a frequent topic of online discussion.

Her comments have reignited debate about how far online commentary should go when it comes to celebrities’ bodies and personal lives.
