New Details Emerge About Kelly Lee Curtis’ Death

Two days after Jamie announced her sister’s passing, new information was released regarding Kelly’s final days.

According to the Blaine County Coroner’s Office in Idaho, Kelly died of natural causes on May 30. Officials also confirmed that she had been receiving hospice care during the week leading up to her death.

The coroner’s office further stated that Kelly’s husband, John Marsh, was present when authorities arrived and that she is expected to be cremated.

A Special Night Before a Life-Changing Day

According to Jamie, Kelly spent the night with her before her wedding and served as her maid of honor. The touching photos were captured by family friend Suzanne Tenner and recently resurfaced following Kelly’s passing.

In her Instagram post, Jamie explained that the images arrived unexpectedly as a gesture of condolence, reminding her of a cherished moment shared between the sisters before one of the most important days of her life.

A Relationship That Came Full Circle

While reflecting on their bond, Jamie revealed that she and Kelly were close as children but experienced the typical challenges many siblings face, including rivalry and competition for attention following their parents’ divorce.

Despite spending years living separate lives, Jamie said Kelly returned to support her during her wedding and remained a constant presence in her life from that point forward.

“She came back to be with me at my wedding and never really left again,” Jamie wrote. “She worked for me at one point when she was in between jobs as my as-sister-aunt and became an integral part of my family structure.”

The actress added that while she misses her sister deeply, she is comforted by the belief that Kelly is now at peace.

Remembering Kelly Lee Curtis

Jamie first announced Kelly’s death in a heartfelt message, revealing that her sister passed away peacefully at home.

Describing Kelly as her “first friend and lifelong confidant,” Jamie remembered her sister’s generosity, curiosity, strong opinions, and love of family, travel, music, nature, and collecting turtles.

She also highlighted Kelly’s passion for thrifting, Facebook, Pokémon Go, and her pride in her Danish roots and Hungarian Jewish ancestry.

Jamie fondly recalled Kelly’s famous Christmas almond crescent cookies, which earned her the affectionate family nickname “Auntie Cookie.”

A Family Legacy in Hollywood

Kelly was the eldest daughter of Hollywood legends Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh. Like her famous parents and younger sister, she also pursued a career in entertainment.

Kelly made her onscreen debut at just 2 years old in the 1958 film The Vikings, which starred both of her parents. After graduating from Skidmore College, she became a member of New York City’s prestigious Actors Studio.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Kelly appeared in several television series, including The Equalizer, Hunter, Silk Stalkings, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and The Sentinel.

Life Beyond Acting

In later years, Kelly and her husband relocated to Bellevue, Idaho, where they built a creative life together.

According to an obituary shared by Jamie, the couple established Liberty Films and worked as a creative team producing films and documentaries focused on local artists, musicians, and the natural beauty of the region around them.

The obituary described Kelly as someone who embraced creativity, community, and the outdoors throughout her life.

An Emotional Farewell

Jamie concluded her tribute by sharing a Hungarian blessing Kelly often used when saying goodbye: “Isten Veled,” meaning “God is with you.”

The same phrase was included in Kelly’s obituary, which read: “Isten Veled to our sister of the sun and the moon, Kelly. May her memory be a blessing.”

The actress said she takes comfort in knowing her sister is at peace while continuing to celebrate the memories they created together over a lifetime.

The heartfelt tributes have drawn support from fans and fellow celebrities alike, many of whom have praised the touching photographs and Jamie’s moving reflections on the enduring bond she shared with her sister.
