Duane Ollinger, the businessman and reality television personality best known for starring on Discovery Channel’s Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch, has died at the age of 68.

According to reports confirmed by his family, Ollinger passed away Tuesday at a hospital in Texas following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as ALS.

Ollinger gained a loyal fanbase after Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch premiered in 2021 on Discovery Channel.

The show followed Ollinger, his son Chad and a team of investigators as they searched for what they believed could be hidden treasure buried beneath his Utah property near the Uintah Mountains.

The series mixed treasure hunting, underground cave exploration and paranormal mystery elements that quickly attracted viewers.

From Oil Business to Reality Television

Before becoming a television personality, Ollinger built his career in the oil industry and reportedly earned significant success as a high-risk oil contractor based in Texas.

After selling his business, he invested heavily into the Blind Frog Ranch property and became convinced valuable treasure and mysterious underground tunnels existed beneath the land.

That belief ultimately became the foundation for the Discovery Channel series.

Health Struggles Became Public

Fans of the show noticed Ollinger’s absence during later episodes after health complications reportedly worsened.

During season six, investigator Josh Feldman stepped in to help continue operations while Ollinger battled ALS, a progressive nervous system disease that affects muscle control.

Tributes Pour In Online

Following news of his death, friends and fellow paranormal researchers shared emotional tributes online.

Ryan Skinner, known for appearing on The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch, described Ollinger as a deeply positive and encouraging person who always pushed others to “tell your truth.”

Fans also flooded social media with condolences and memories from the show.

Show Developed Cult Following

Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch became one of Discovery’s more unusual reality programs thanks to its blend of hidden treasure theories, unexplained phenomena and underground exploration.

Many viewers were drawn to Ollinger’s determination and willingness to invest everything into solving the ranch’s mysteries.

ALS Continues Affecting Thousands

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurological condition that gradually destroys nerve cells responsible for muscle movement.

The disease currently has no known cure, and public awareness surrounding ALS has continued growing in recent years through advocacy and research campaigns.

For many Discovery viewers, Ollinger became the face of one of television’s most unusual treasure-hunting adventures.

His passion for uncovering the secrets of Blind Frog Ranch helped turn the show into a fan favorite and left a lasting impression on audiences fascinated by mystery and exploration.
