Three teenage girls tragically lost their lives after taking a selfie near train tracks in Utah. The girls were Essa Ricker, Kelsea Webster, and Savannah Webster.

The friends were spending time together near the railway tracks in Spanish Fork Canyon when they stopped to take photos and selfies. They reportedly waved at one train passing by and posed for a picture.

However, they did not realize that another train was approaching from the opposite direction on a nearby track. The second train was very close and moving quickly.

Two of the girls died at the scene after being struck by the train, while the third was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Sadly, she later died from severe brain injuries.

Investigators said the girls likely did not hear the second train because of the noise from the first train and the surrounding canyon area.

The selfie taken just before the accident showed the headlights of the approaching train in the background, but the girls were unaware of the danger at the time.

The tragedy is often cited as a warning about the dangers of taking photos or selfies in risky locations, especially near train tracks.

Officials continue to warn people to stay away from railway tracks, reminding the public that trains cannot stop quickly and accidents can happen in seconds.
