Experts on UFOs claim powerful extraterrestrial civilizations may exist in the universe, with technology far beyond human control — and could potentially wipe out life on Earth.
Dr. Don Donderi, a retired McGill University professor and longtime UFO researcher, said: “[Extraterrestrials] have the technology and power to overcome our technology and power… We’re potentially at their mercy.” He added that no government or international organization currently has the means to defend against such beings.

The debate has gained attention following statements from politicians like Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett, who said Americans would be “up at night worrying” if they knew what he has been briefed on regarding UFOs. Burchett supports full disclosure but claims the information is explosive.
High-profile figures, including former President Barack Obama, have publicly acknowledged the existence of UFOs. Obama told the No Lie podcast: “They’re real, but I haven’t seen them.” Former President Donald Trump also said he met “serious people” who witnessed unusual flying objects and began releasing government files on extraterrestrial life.

Congressional hearings in 2023 and 2024 investigated UFOs, now officially called Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs). Military officials confirmed hundreds of unexplained encounters, though there is no verifiable evidence of alien craft.
Some experts, including Sean Kirkpatrick, a former Pentagon UFO office director, caution against exaggeration. He suggested Burchett and others may have been misled by paranormal-focused factions within the government, and emphasized that national security concerns, not aliens, remain the priority.
Meanwhile, Vice President J.D. Vance has speculated that some UAPs could even be “demons”, reflecting ancient beliefs about mysterious sky phenomena. Vance said he intends to investigate the files further during his remaining term.
The UFO debate continues to spark curiosity, fear, and controversy, as governments balance transparency with caution over what may be beyond human understanding.
