Chuck Adams, a former professional tennis player, has filed for legal separation from his wife, Ashley Harkleroad, also a former tennis pro and notable for her appearances in modeling. According to court documents filed on April 14, Adams cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for initiating the separation.
The couple, who have been married since September 22, 2009, share two children aged 17 and 15. The filing requests joint custody of their children with physical custody awarded to Harkleroad, while Adams is to have visitation rights. Additionally, Adams has sought to end the possibility of spousal support payments to Harkleroad through the court.
Regarding their shared assets and debts, Adams noted in the petition that the full extent of these financial details is currently unknown. He has asked the court to allow him to amend the petition once the information becomes available.
Both Adams and Harkleroad have notable careers in tennis. Adams was active primarily in the 1990s, securing one singles title and compiling an 83-93 win-loss record. He also served as Harkleroad’s coach during her playing career, during which she reached a top-40 world ranking in 2003.
Before her marriage to Adams, Harkleroad was married to another tennis professional, Alex Bogomolov Jr. Apart from her tennis career, Harkleroad gained public attention in 2008 as the first active female tennis player to pose nude for Playboy magazine. She retired from professional tennis in 2012 and later briefly engaged in content creation on OnlyFans.
The couple’s separation marks the end of a relationship spanning over 16 years, concluding a significant chapter in the lives of two former professional athletes.
