Cold Case Arrest After 24 Years
A woman has been arrested more than two decades after the death of her husband in Texas, following what police describe as a major cold case breakthrough.
Lisa Honrud, 55, was taken into custody on April 20 on a murder warrant linked to the death of Frank Weiss.

Body Found Near Lake Lewisville
Weiss was found dead near Lake Lewisville in Texas in 2002. At the time, he was married to Honrud and lived in nearby Plano.

Authorities initially treated the case as unresolved for years due to limited evidence and lack of leads.
Breakthrough in the Investigation
Police say the case was reopened after new developments emerged. Investigators cited advances in forensic techniques and new information from a key witness.
The Frisco Police Department confirmed that these updates helped secure an arrest warrant after 24 years.

Chief David Shilson said the case had remained a priority for investigators and that the arrest represents an important step toward accountability.
Family Reacts to Arrest
Weiss’s daughter, Carla, who was 22 at the time of her father’s death, said the arrest brought mixed emotions after years of uncertainty.
She said she had long struggled with hope and acceptance, explaining that she had learned to live without expecting answers, even while still wishing for closure.
Questions Still Remain
While grateful for the arrest, Carla also expressed doubts that Honrud acted alone. She suggested that her father’s physical size would have made it difficult for one person to carry out the crime.
Investigators have not publicly confirmed whether additional suspects are being considered.
Community Response
Police officials thanked multiple departments involved in reopening the case and credited modern investigative tools for helping move the case forward.
The arrest marks a significant development in a case that had remained unsolved for nearly a quarter of a century.
Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing as they work to fully understand what happened in 2002.
