A rising young actor from the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince franchise was killed in a violent street attack just days after completing filming — a loss that still haunts fans more than a decade later.

A Promising Life Cut Short

Rob Knox was only 18 when he was fatally stabbed outside a pub in Sidcup, south-east London, in May 2008.

He had recently finished filming his scenes as Ravenclaw student Marcus Belby and was due to appear in future films in the Wizarding World series. His career was just beginning to take shape, with roles in British television productions including The Bill.

But he never lived to see his work reach cinemas.

A Moment of Violence Outside a London Pub

According to reports from the time, Knox had been out with friends when a confrontation escalated after his younger brother, Jamie, was allegedly threatened by a man carrying knives.

Knox stepped in during the confrontation, attempting to intervene.

In the chaos that followed, he was stabbed multiple times in front of his brother and friends.

Emergency services rushed him to hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

His Brother’s Account of His Final Words

Knox’s younger brother Jamie later described the horrifying moment he witnessed the attack, saying his brother repeatedly told those around him, “I’ve been stabbed, I’ve been stabbed.”

Those words, spoken in the aftermath of the assault, have since been remembered as his final moments.

Several others were also injured during the incident, including one victim who suffered life-changing spinal damage.

The Killer and the Court Case

The attacker, Karl Bishop, was arrested and later convicted of murder.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term, and was described in court as showing no remorse for his actions.

Legacy and Foundation in His Name

In the years following his death, Knox’s family established the Rob Knox Foundation to support young people pursuing careers in acting and performance.

His mother later said that attending the premiere of the film without him was one of the hardest moments of her life, adding that he had dreamed of walking the red carpet.

A Life Remembered Beyond the Screen

Though his screen time was brief, Knox’s story has become one of the most heartbreaking “what ifs” in the Harry Potter universe.
