Actress Elizabeth Banks is opening up about one of the most unusual parts of filming her new series — and it involves an edible prop so large it sounds almost unreal.
Inside Her New Role in The Miniature Wife
Banks stars in the new Peacock series The Miniature Wife, where she plays a wife whose character is accidentally shrunk to just six inches tall after a scientific experiment goes wrong.
Opposite her is Matthew Macfadyen, who plays the scientist responsible for the mishap.
To bring the surreal concept to life, production relied heavily on oversized practical props and green-screen filming.
A Chocolate Bar the Size of a Human
During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Banks revealed one of the most eye-catching set pieces: a fully edible, six-foot-tall chocolate bar.

She said she was able to “nibble on it for a week,” adding that despite her best efforts, she “barely made a dent in it.”
The prop wasn’t just for show — it was designed to be interacted with on camera, alongside other exaggerated items like a giant toilet plunger and a single popcorn kernel scaled to massive proportions.
“Feeling Small” — Literally and Emotionally
Beyond the spectacle, Banks said the show’s concept resonated on a deeper level.
While the premise is absurd on the surface, she explained that it reflects something very real: the feeling of being diminished in relationships or professional life.
In the series, that emotional idea is turned physical — and exaggerated into comedy and visual storytelling.
Why the Concept Works
By shrinking one character and enlarging the world around her, the show uses scale to explore power dynamics in a relationship — while leaning fully into visual comedy.
For Banks, that balance between humor and emotional truth was what made the project stand out.
