President Donald Trump addressed reports that his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., is preparing to marry Bettina Anderson during Memorial Day weekend in the Bahamas.
Speaking to reporters, Trump admitted he has not fully committed to attending the ceremony, saying international matters currently remain his top priority.

“He’d like me to go,” Trump said of his son. “But it’s going to be just a small, little private affair. I’m gonna try and make it.”
‘Not Good Timing for Me’
The president also joked about the political pressure surrounding the decision, noting that global tensions are making the timing difficult.
“I said, ‘You know this is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things,’” Trump remarked. He added that whether he attends or skips the wedding, media criticism would likely follow either way.
Despite the scheduling conflict, Trump spoke warmly about Anderson, saying he has known her for years and hopes the couple enjoys “a great marriage.”
Engagement Was Announced at White House Event
Don Jr. and Anderson publicly revealed their engagement during a White House holiday gathering in December 2025. During the event, Don Jr. thanked Anderson for accepting his proposal, while she described the moment as “the most unforgettable weekend.”
According to reports, the pair are planning a private ceremony on an island in the Bahamas with only close friends and relatives attending.

Concerns Over Public Optics
Reports also suggest the couple intentionally avoided hosting a large White House wedding due to concerns about public reaction during ongoing international conflicts.
Sources close to the family reportedly believed a lavish political celebration while global tensions continue would likely draw criticism online and in the media.
The upcoming marriage will be Anderson’s first and Don Jr.’s second. He shares five children with his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump.
Family News Adds Emotional Weight
The wedding reports surfaced only days after Vanessa Trump publicly revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. In a message shared on social media, she thanked her medical team and confirmed she is currently undergoing treatment.
Their daughter, Kai Trump, later posted a tribute calling her mother “the strongest person I know.”
As attention now shifts toward the reported Bahamas ceremony, the Trump family once again finds itself balancing private milestones with intense public attention.
