Just days after officiating the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, Adam Sandler was back doing one of his favorite things: playing pickup basketball.

The actor surprised local players on Nantucket after calling police to ask where he could find a public basketball court, proving that even after one of the year’s biggest celebrity weddings, basketball remained high on his priority list.

A call to local police

According to the Nantucket Current, Sandler contacted the Nantucket Police Department’s non-emergency line after arriving on the island, asking where he could join a pickup game.

A dispatcher directed him to the Backus Lane basketball courts, where he soon joined local players for an afternoon game.

Joining the locals

Players on the court said Sandler casually introduced himself before asking if he could join. Witnesses described the actor as friendly and down-to-earth, noting that he focused on passing and playmaking while enjoying the game with everyone else.

The impromptu appearance quickly became a memorable experience for those sharing the court with the Hollywood star.

Fresh off a celebrity wedding

Sandler had just officiated the highly anticipated wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce on July 3, an event attended by numerous celebrities and close friends of the couple.

His connection with Kelce grew after the NFL star appeared in Happy Gilmore 2, and Sandler has previously praised both Kelce and Swift for their kindness and genuine personalities.

Basketball remains a lifelong passion

Long before becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest comedy stars, Sandler developed a love for basketball that continues today. He is frequently spotted playing pickup games while traveling for work or vacation, often surprising fans by joining local courts without advance notice.

Whether attending major Hollywood events or spending time with family, Sandler rarely misses an opportunity to play.

Staying true to himself

While officiating one of the year’s most talked-about weddings drew headlines, Sandler’s spontaneous stop at a neighborhood basketball court reminded fans why he remains one of Hollywood’s most relatable stars.

Sometimes, even after a celebrity-filled weekend, all it takes is a phone call and a local court for Sandler to enjoy one of his favorite pastimes.
