Louis Prevost, the brother of Pope Leo XIV, was the recipient of a bomb threat at his residence in New Lenox, Illinois, according to police reports. The New Lenox Police Department responded to the threat on Wednesday at a home located on Sojourn Road, believed to be Prevost’s address.
Authorities promptly evacuated the neighborhood and summoned an explosives K9 unit to investigate the scene. After a thorough search, no explosive devices were found, leading officials to classify the threat as unsubstantiated. Despite this, the investigation remains active and ongoing, according to New Lenox Police Chief Micah Nuesse.
New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann stated that the threat was conveyed via email and described it as a “targeted threat”. However, officials have not confirmed whether the threat was directly linked to the publicized conflict between Pope Leo XIV and former President Donald Trump. The identity and motive of the individual behind the email remain unknown.
Interestingly, the involvement of Louis Prevost in the dispute appears complex, as Trump has publicly expressed preference for Prevost over Pope Leo XIV, referencing Prevost’s support for MAGA policies. This nuance raises questions regarding the rationale for targeting Prevost amid the feud.
Mayor Baldermann emphasized that the law enforcement response was consistent with standard protocol, stating that the actions taken would be the same regardless of the resident’s identity. Alongside local authorities, federal agencies have joined the investigation to help identify the responsible party.
Authorities urge anyone with information related to the threat to contact the New Lenox Police Department. The situation emerges amid ongoing tensions between Pope Leo XIV and Donald Trump, which have drawn significant public and media attention. No further details have been released at this time, and officials continue to monitor the investigation closely.
