Country music icon Dolly Parton has shared a heartfelt health update with fans — and it comes with disappointing news.
The 80-year-old star revealed she is canceling her planned Las Vegas residency, explaining that while she’s improving, she’s not yet ready to return to the stage.
“I have some good news and a little bad news,” Parton said in a video message. “The good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments and I’m improving every day.”
However, she admitted the recovery process is taking longer than expected.
“It’s gonna take me a little while before I’m up to stage performance level,” she added, confirming that her six-show run, Dolly: Live in Las Vegas, will no longer go ahead.
‘I’m Doing Really Well’
Despite the cancellation, Parton reassured fans that her overall health is moving in the right direction.
“I’m doing really well, and they assure me that everything I have is treatable,” she said. “I’m going with that.”
She also thanked fans for their continued support during what has been a difficult period.
“I just want you to know I thank you for standing by me… I will always love you.”
A Difficult Year Personally
Parton also reflected on the emotional toll of the past year, following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, in March 2025.
“A lot of you have been concerned about me and Carl,” she said. “After going through a year of firsts… that was hard for me.”
She added that the love and support from fans has helped her through the loss.
“I will always love and miss him,” she said.
Ongoing Health Challenges
This isn’t the first time health concerns have impacted the singer’s schedule.
Last year, Parton postponed the same Las Vegas residency due to what she described as “health challenges,” and she has also previously dealt with kidney stones and other medical procedures.
While she continues to work on projects from home, doctors have advised her to take more time to fully recover before returning to live performances.
Looking Ahead
Although fans won’t see her on stage in Las Vegas anytime soon, Parton remains optimistic about the future.
“I’ve still got some healing to do,” she said, “but I am on my way.”
