The girlfriend of a Ukrainian businessman’s son has spoken publicly following claims that her social media activity may have unintentionally revealed his location before his death.

Yeva Mishalova addressed the situation after reports circulated linking her Instagram posts to the kidnapping and killing of Igor Komarov during a trip to Bali in February.

Komarov, the son of Ukrainian businessman Sergey Komarov, was reportedly travelling with Mishalova when he disappeared shortly after celebrating Valentine’s Day on the Indonesian island.

A day after he went missing, a video appeared on Telegram showing Komarov speaking under duress. In the recording, he claimed he had been tortured and said kidnappers were demanding a $10 million ransom from his family.

Shortly afterwards, authorities discovered human remains on a beach in Bali. DNA testing later confirmed the identity of Komarov, with reports indicating he had been killed days earlier.

The case took a new turn when online commentators and a true crime channel suggested that real-time Instagram posts may have helped identify the couple’s location before the abduction. These claims have not been confirmed by investigators.

In early April, Mishalova broke her silence in a video message, describing the emotional impact of the incident and asking for privacy as she dealt with the aftermath.

“I have been in silence for a long time,” she said, thanking supporters while explaining she was working with a psychologist and spending time with family as she tried to recover.

She also stated that she was cooperating with investigators and urged the public to stop spreading rumours, asking for respect and boundaries during what she described as a deeply difficult period.

In a later message, she thanked those who had shown support, saying her emotions fluctuated heavily as she processed the loss and tried to regain stability in her daily life.

Meanwhile, Komarov was reportedly abducted on 15 February by a group that accused his father of owing millions of dollars.

In a separate video released shortly after the kidnapping, Komarov appeared injured and pleaded with his parents to meet the ransom demand, warning that his condition was rapidly worsening. The claims in the video have not been independently verified.

Police later confirmed that Komarov’s severed head was found on 27 February as part of the ongoing investigation into the case, which remains active with suspects still being pursued.
